With the lantern and then the camp stove, both category leaders, Coleman expanded its line of leisure products beginning in 1954 with the galvanized steel cooler. Three years later Coleman revolutionized the industry by developing a process to make plastic liners for coolers and jugs. Coleman continues to lean into the future and seems to have an uncanny ability to adapt to change. Coleman indeed sets industry standards.

Coleman knows what they are doing when it comes to coolers. In fact, Coleman was responsible for the advent of the plastic cooler. Their coolers have polyurethane foam filling with polyethylene exterior. They are manufactured with high-tech plastics that are lightweight and will not rust or dent like metal coolers. Special features are their recessed faucets to protect them from damage and their patented faucet designed to ensure instant, no drip shut off. Some coolers have hinged lids convenient for one handed opening and closing. Others are made with lift off lids that flip over providing molded drink holders. The jug coolers come equipped with two handles, one for carrying and one for pouring. Some chest coolers even come equipped with a built in scale to measure your fish.

The Coleman Xtreme cooler comes in a variety of sizes from 36 quarts to 100 quarts. Keeping ice from five to six days in temperatures of 90 degrees, the Coleman Xtreme cooler seems to be somewhat of a miracle. The Ultimate Coleman Xtreme cooler comes with wheels and both provide hinged lids with molded cup holders. These Coleman Xtreme coolers also are equipped with channel drains for no tilt draining. They will hold anywhere from 46 to 130 cans plus ice.

Tips for Packing Your Coleman Cooler
Coleman Combo Set
· Don’t start out with a hot cooler that has been setting in the garage. Bring it inside for 24 hours to cool. You can also dump a little ice in it and let it stand for a period of time. After it is packed, keep it out of the sun.

· Pre chill food and drinks before packing it into your cooler. When packing your cooler, pack it in reverse order. In other words, the first in the last out. This will take a little planning, but will keep food colder longer. Also you may want to use separate coolers for the food and the beverages as the beverage cooler seems to get more activity on a hot summer day.

· When packing your beverage cooler, put the drinks on the bottom and then the ice over them as cold air travels down.

Thermoelectric coolers
· Cube ice will cool things more quickly, but block ice will last a lot longer. To save money and make your own block ice use clean empty milk cartons.

· Lastly, don’t drain the ice water as it will preserve any new ice added better than empty air space.

Cleaning Your Coleman Cooler

Use mild soap and warm water to clean the inside of your cooler. For tough stains you can use baking soda and water. To remove tough orders from you cooler such as fish, use a diluted solution of chlorine bleach and water. If the order persists, wipe the interior of your cooler with a cloth saturated in vanilla extract and then leave the cloth in the cooler overnight.
